Sub-Saharan Africa Excellence Scholarships are now open for applications at TU Delft

The Sub-Saharan Africa Excellence Scholarships are currently being offered by the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, and they are currently accepting applications for the academic session 2023/2024.

Students from sub-Saharan Africa who are exceptionally gifted, highly motivated, and have a broad range of academic interests will have the opportunity to study at Delft University of Technology thanks to these scholarships. The Global Initiative’s goals are to advance future leadership that is focused on sustainable global development and to support capacity building in regions that are considered to be in the Global South. The TU Delft has adopted the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals as one of its guiding principles.

Every year, the TU Delft | Global Initiative is proud to award four Sub-Saharan Africa Excellence Scholarships to deserving students. They have an expectation that the students will be willing to represent the organization as its ambassadors both while they are in school and after they have graduated.

About The Scholarship

The TU Delft Sub-Saharan Africa Excellence Scholarships provide students from Sub-Saharan Africa with the opportunity to attend the Delft University of Technology if they are exceptionally talented, highly motivated, and interested in a broad range of subjects. The TU Delft | Global Initiative aims to advance future leadership that is focused on sustainable global development and to support capacity building in regions that are considered to be in the Global South. The TU Delft has adopted the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals as one of its guiding principles.

TU Delft | Global Initiative is pleased to announce that it will be awarding four Sub-Saharan Africa Excellence Scholarships for a Master of Science degree program beginning in the academic year 2022-2023. TU Delft has high expectations for its students, including the expectation that they will be willing to represent the university as ambassadors both during their studies and after they graduate.

Scholarships for students from Sub-Saharan Africa who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement are offered by TU Delft. If you satisfy the requirements set forth by the university for admission into the MSc degree program, you will be able to enroll in the program on your own. This university is widely regarded as the best in the Netherlands for both research and education, and it is the most important technical university in the country. You will gain an understanding of how the advancement of technology can have an effect on societies.

  • Value of Scholarship: €25.000 per year for Sub-Saharan students, which includes:
    • Full tuition fees for a TU Delft MSc programme based on the statutory fee or institutional rate, according to the registered nationality, AND contribution for the living expenses.
    • A MSc thesis topic which relates to the Sustainable Development Goals and TU Delft | Global Initiative.
    • Be our ambassador for Sub-Saharan Africa.

Eligibility

  • Excellent international applicants who have been conditionally accepted into one of TU Delft’s Regular MSc Programs for a duration of two years.
  • With a cumulative grade point average (GPA) that is at least 80 percent or higher of the scale maximum in the bachelor’s degree earned from an accredited university in one of the countries listed above.

Instructions on How to Apply

  • If you would like to submit an application for the Sub-Saharan Africa Excellence Scholarships;
  • Verify that you meet the requirements to receive this scholarship.
  • Finish your Master of Science application (don’t forget to check the admission requirements).
  • In addition to all of the documents that are typically required for an application to an MSc Program:
  • Send in your scholarship application by uploading the form.
  • Please upload two character references, preferably in PDF format, in accordance with the required documents.
  • Two letters of recommendation, one in English, one in French, one in German, and one in Dutch. These letters must be in the format of:
    • Either from a professor who came before or from an assistant professor. It’s possible that one of these letters will come from an employer you’ve worked for in the past.
    • Printed on the institution’s or company’s official letterhead and bearing the seal of approval from the appropriate authority.
    • containing your full name and bearing the signature of the referee
